Curriculum Overview
Since its establishment, Rawdat Al-Fayhaa High School has implemented the Lebanese educational curriculum, developed by the Educational Center for Research and Development in 1997. This curriculum emphasizes the learner as the central focus of education. The Lebanese educational system consists of two main stages: Basic Education that includes three levels: kindergarten (ages 3-6), primary education (ages 6-12), and basic education (ages 12-15), covering core subjects like Arabic, French, mathematics, and science. The Secondary education that lasts three years, is divided into scientific and literary tracks, offering advanced subjects such as physics, chemistry, advanced mathematics, and additional languages.
Rawdat El Fayhaa school is a candidate school* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision. Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
The school aims to provide outstanding education and holistic development through the adoption of the French curriculum, reflecting France's cultural and educational influence in Lebanon. Starting with the kindergarten and first cycle, and expanding to the secondary level from the tenth grade this year, the curriculum enhances understanding and develops academic and life skills. French is the primary language of instruction, strengthening students' language proficiency across subjects like mathematics, sciences, and history. Students can choose various study pathways based on their interests, culminating in national "Baccalaureate" exams that qualify them for university education. The school plans to obtain accreditation from AEFE (Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Étranger), ensuring high-quality French education standards outside France.
Rawdat Al-Fayhaa High School adopted a foreign curriculum in 2001, expanding from the first cycle to higher levels over the years. This curriculum, based on educational systems from countries following the American model, includes core subjects such as English, French, mathematics, science, and social studies. It emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and active student participation while being adaptable to the needs of diverse learners. The curriculum also prepares secondary students for the SAT I exam. Additionally, the school is establishing a partnership with Cognia to pursue international accreditation, enhancing educational quality and providing opportunities for global collaboration and cultural exchange.
